Here are our family’s top 7 uses for this amazing product, Apple Cider Vinegar!
Top 7 Uses of Apple Cider Vinegar
1. DIY Tea when not feeling well
This one came to me either through my husband or my sister-in-law…I remember not because we have been using it for years now in our family! Anytime someone even gets the slightest sniffles, we believe in warding it off before it can become the full-blown anything…it’s happened too many times before in our family….so we immediately grab a mug and get to work!
Our recipe is simple:
- Fill the mug with filtered water
- Add either freshly squeezed lemon or a drop or 2 of Lemon Essential Oil (our family uses this one).
- Warm-up in the microwave or heat up the water on the stove and add it to the mug when it’s warm.
- After the lemon water has been heated up, add just a tiny capful of ACV to the mug and stir and enjoy.
2. Wart Removal
About 5-6 years ago when my daughters started taking gymnastics, I noticed they became prone to plantar warts, which was not a surprise to me with all the bare feet and germs running around on gym floors. My daughters (and myself) got tired of the same old same old going to the doctor and getting it frozen off only for it to come back again. So, I went to researching and here is what I discovered. ACV can naturally and effectively remove the wart and actually kill the virus causing the wart so it is GONE! And, it works!
Here is our process:
- Saturate a cotton ball with Apple Cider Vinegar.
- Apply it directly to the wart and attach it with a band-aid or medical tape.
- Leave on overnight.
- In 2 weeks or less, the wart and the black seed inside will come off.
- Be sure you are discarding the cotton ball and bandaid that has touched the wart each morning.
- If the skin around the wart becomes red and sensitive, apply a healthy moisturizer around the wart first to protect that skin from the ACV effects.
3. Sunburn Remedy
Due to living in the deep south and enjoying very much our time spent outdoors, it is eventually going to happen no matter how careful we are that someone in our family gets sunburned! So, right around the time I began researching more natural ways to do things in our home (about 6-7 years ago), I discovered this gem of a remedy!
NO, YOU SHOULD NEVER PUT STRAIGHT APPLE CIDER VINEGAR ON YOUR SUNBURN EVER AT ALL!!

4. Skin Toner
When I ran out of my favorite natural, gentle, yet effective Rose Water Toner that is my absolute favorite, I ran to researching what I could use in a pinch. What do you know this baby popped up and as soon as I tried it I knew I was hooked and in love!
Yes, straight apple cider vinegar (or if you have more sensitive skin try diluting with water first) on a cotton ball swiped all over your already cleaned face is an amazing natural and effective toner.
And, yes, as my daughter pointed out when I used it on her as well, you will smell like ACV for a few minutes, but it is sooooo worth it! It does a great job of pulling out any last bits of dirt, tightening the pores, and cleaning just the way ACV does as a natural ph balancer!
5. Hair Rinse
About 6 1/2 years ago, my hair started falling out more and more and I, of course, went to researching just as I did everything at that time and still do to this day…knowledge is power right?
Anyway, come to find out all the toxic chemicals and endocrine disruptors that are in our hair products and putting them on my hair and scalp every single day was possibly the cause of my hair fall out.
So, after researching quite a bit and talking to numerous hairdressers, I found out that apparently washing your hair every day is actually the worst thing for it! When we wash our hair every day, we are stripping any very necessary oils that are on the hair shaft and necessary for hair health. On top of that, we are putting toxic chemicals onto our biggest organ (our skin) every single day when washing our hair every day!
So, I began on my journey of only washing my hair once or twice a week, but it was a process to build up to this and one of the things that helped me the most was this ACV Hair Rinse. I started with this actually to help strip lots of the residue from the build-up of hair products that was weighing my hair down.
Here is the process I used:
- Mix ACV with water 50/50 and put it into a squeeze bottle.
- Once in shower with wet hair, squeeze the entire mixture onto your hair and soak your entire head and hair with this.
- Let it sit for a few minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- DO NOT CONDITION after this.
- Squeeze your hair dry and either air dry or blow-dry.
- It definitely takes some time to get used to and you will go through periods of your hair feeling too dry or too oily, but it balances out after a couple of weeks and then your hair can have it’s healthy ph back.
6. Salad Dressing
There are literally countless recipes you can make at home for your own preferred tastes for salad dressings, vinaigrettes, or marinades.
One of the simplest is simply mixing a spoonful or capful of ACV into some EVOO and either blend it well in a blender or stir it with a whisk and pour it directly on salad before it has a chance to settle.
Another one my husband loves to make in the Vita-Mix is this:
EVOO
Avocado
ACV
That’s it! And it is delicious! Plus you have the added benefits of actually absorbing all those amazing nutrients from your salad since you have the healthy fat of the Avocado in there!
7. Removing Band-Aid Residue
OK if you have ever had a band-aid on for any length of time, you know what I am talking about here. When you rip that sucker off and are left with the outline of it in adhesive and you could pick at it forever and it’s only going to partly come up? Yeah…that’s what I am talking about here.
But, if you put ACV on a cotton ball or paper towel and rub it vigorously over the residue, it will soften it enough to start peeling up! Just be sure not to get it in or on the wound or cut….that’s not gonna feel too great. Also, if the skin becomes a little red or irritated, simply rub some of this amazing Coconut Oil on it for soothing and to finish the process of removing the residue! Yes, I know you want to hug me….and I will with a wink and a smile say you are welcome!
Just little old me over here solving the world’s problems! ha!
And to help you even more with that, HERE is our favorite Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother obviously) and the best part is it’s on sale now from this amazing company we have used for 7 years now!
