Why do Simple Solutions Even Matter?
Why does it even matter if what I have is simple and what even defines a simple solution anyway?
I am going to take you through my 5 label system for qualifying an item, process, or idea as being a simple solution.
First of all, let me give you a bit of background. I have held many different jobs, lived many different places, but the one thing that finally triggered my need and the realization that others also need simple solutions is experiencing grief.
Grief can come and look like many different aspects, right? As different as we all are, we all experience grief and suffering at some point in our lives. It is at those times in my own life that I realized that even the simplest of to-do lists felt completely overwhelming and bordering on the impossible. It was during this time that I greatly longed for someone to just come alongside me and spend some time with me in my days and just hand me a blueprint for my own life. A basic to-do list for even the simplest of things…set your phone alarm, wake up, go to the bathroom.
While that may sound silly, my first inclination while caregiving for my Mom when I woke up, was to jump out of bed, run downstairs and be sure her ventilator is going and that all her airway is ok and that would lead to her full-time care. Before I knew it, 3 hours is gone, I hadn’t yet peed or brushed my teeth and I’m falling apart but now can’t stop. Her care required nonstop care. And in the beginning, when we were figuring it all out, that’s exactly what it was…NONSTOP.
Later I would experience grief in another form. miscarriages. It’s such a private personal pain that you can only understand if you have experienced it. Not many people are sympathetic to that. So it felt like a private shameful kind of grief that you couldn’t share with others for fear of them brushing it off.
This catalyst propelled me towards implementing many more simple solutions. But it really has made our everyday life, whether in trials or not, flow so much better.
No matter what your family looks like or where you live. No matter what you are going through, or your station in life. It truly is the wiser thing to be as efficient as possible with your time. Even just with the usual business of everyday life that each day brings, so you can keep the flow of life moving no matter what life looks like now.
Qualification Process
In order for something to qualify as a simple solution in our life, it must meet 5 requirements. (We refuse to recommend anything to you that we don’t personally use in our everyday life.)
The 5 requirements to be a simple solution are:
- Basic. It must be back to basic, as natural as possible, and simple to use for the majority of people no matter age or station in life.
- Beneficial. It has to actually help and improve everyday life, or fill a need in the majority of peoples’ lives.
- Practical. It must be practical to use in everyday life, meaning you don’t have to adjust your life to use these tips or products, except in a way to make the initial adjustment which will give you more time in the long run.
- Money Saving. I learned the hard way that buying something cheap on the front end rarely EVER saves me or my family money. Yes, some of the items I recommend on here may cost a little bit more than others upfront, but they last so long that it saves you so much more in the long run than buying multiple cheaper items. Some of the things we use, don’t cost as much either.
- Quality. Notice, I didn’t say expensive. Well-made, effective, made to last, and performs its functions top notch, and stands the test of time is what we are looking for here.
Why should I even bother with spending the time to implement simple solutions in my life?
Because time matters. We are only given so much time every day. It’s the one thing in life that no matter what, once it is gone, it’s gone forever. There’s no going back. So, if I could show you ways to spend a short amount of time on the front end to implement some simple solutions in your life to give you much more time in your every day life for the things that really matter (time with your loved ones, time to work smarter, time to play harder, time to give more and love more and learn more), wouldn’t that be worth it?
Also, being time-wise means you realize that life won’t always look the same. In fact, that is one constant in life is change. Life is always evolving.
This is another reason I wanted to started this blog. I wanted to have a place for simple solutions that work for anyone in any station in life. Wherever you live, work, or play; and, whether you are single, married, married with kids, single with kids, retired, widowed, caregiving. whatever your life is like, this blog is for YOU.
You all matter and you and I are given the exact same number of hours every single day. Let’s get back to basics, stop filling our lives with clutter and implement some simple solutions for every day living.
At the end of our lives, we won’t wish for more money, more TV, or that we had worked more. But, we will wish for more time with our loved ones, doing what we love.
Why are you qualified to tell us what simple solutions are?
Having moved 10 times in in my single life, and then another 10 after that once I married my best friend; and having become a caregiver to my mom through a traumatic situation (car wreck Christmas day); also having experienced 4 miscarriages (one which nearly meant my life); having been an EMT and seeing so much pain and suffering; and having lived everywhere from my car to apartments, townhomes, houses, and even condensing our life to one-bedroom in my parents house while caregiving for my mom, I can confidently say to you that I feel as if God has gifted me those experiences and seen me through those seasons for many reasons.
He has put the desire on my heart to share with you numerous things learned through the years. These are tips, inspiration, and products that I have learned through the years that would have been helpful to me in the past. They are also things that I learned in the past that I now use in my own life.
Also, some of my closest friends and family over the years kept asking me to write down my tips. So, I am putting it all in one place so they can find what they need when they need it.
What if there is something I’m needing a simple solution to that I can’t find on your site?
By all means, please email me and ask me!!! It is possible I either have a solution for that and haven’t had a chance to write about it yet. It is also entirely possible that I don’t have any wisdom on the particular subject you are looking into. But I am happy to jump in and research what I can find for you and get back to you. Or if I feel unqualified in that area, there may be someone I can recommend to you in that field.
